LyricsWould I believe you when you would say
Your hand will guide my every way Will I receive the words You say Every moment of every day [chorus] Well I will walk by faith Even when I cannot see Well because this broken road Prepares Your will for me Help me to win my endless fears You've been so faithful for all my years With one breath You make me new Your grace covers all I do yeah, yeah , yeah, yeah, yeah, ya [chorus] Well I'm broken- but I still see Your face Well You've spoken- pouring Your words of grace [chorus x2] Well hallelujah, hallelu (I will walk by faith) Well hallelujah, hallelu (I will walk by faith) I will walk, I will walk, I will walk by faith I will, I will, I will walk by faith |
Explanation: The song "Walk by Faith" speaks to the idea of looking beyond what we can see or what can be proven, and being able to believe in something without concrete evidence of it's existence. This is primarily a link to the Christian faith, who trust that if you are hoping or praying for an outcome - one that is seemingly impossible - you are not to focus on the circumstances surrounding you and instead, believe that outcome will come true through faith.
In relation to the poem, Chaunticleer chooses to ignore the warning signs from his dream, and instead, conforms to Pertelote's belief that dreams are insignificant and have no means of predicting the future. This could be an example of using juxtaposition as a technique to compare what Chaunticleer should have done and what he decided to do. If Chaunticleer had kept faith in his dream and the information provided to him, he could have possibly avoided the attack of the russel fox. As a result of his ignorance, Chaunticleer was fooled by the fox and found himself in a near-death situation. However, he was given a second chance when he escapes from the fox and in the end, learns his lesson. |
